This is an Organic Lavender, Tea Tree and Witch Hazel facial toner in a 150ml amber glass bottle with an atomiser spray fitting - ideal for acne prone, oily or sensitive skin.

We have blended Organic Lavender and Tea Tree Hydrosol together with alcohol free Witch Hazel and coconut derived Glycerine to create a calming antibacterial facial tonic that softens, soothes and tones the skin. This refreshing tonic is best used after cleansing to help tighten pores, remove any make up residue, dirt and oil, replenish skin cells and promote a clear complexion.

Lavender Hydrosol:
Lavender hydrosol is a lovely and gentle remedy that helps to soothe and cleanse the skin. As well as having a beautiful and calming scent it is credited with being anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, balancing and energising. 

Tea Tree Hydrosol:
A fresh antibacterial tonic well known for its powerful antiseptic properties and ability to help with acne. Tea Tree has been documented in numerous medical studies to kill many strains of bacteria, viruses and fungi. It has unique disinfecting and soothing properties and, unlike other acne treatments, it will not strip your skin of its natural oils and cause further damage. 

Witch Hazel Hydrosol:
Witch Hazel is an antioxidant and an astringent. It has been used medicinally to aid various skin ailments, reduce inflammation, promote healing and fight bacteria. Due to its high tannin content it has strong skin toning actions.

What is a Hydrosol?

Hydrosols are botanical extracts that are harvested using the traditional method of steam distillation, the same method used to make most essential oils. Hydrosol's are also known as Floral Waters, Distillates, Hydrolats or Aromatic Waters. The aromatic waters we have used are produced by distilling Lavender petals, Tea Tree leaves and Witch Hazel leaves and bark. 

How are they made?

They are created in a still that contains fresh water and plant material which is slowly heated. As the steam rises, it passes through the botanical material carrying particles of essential oil and phytonutrients through the still. As this nourishing vapour cools, through this alchemical process it condenses in the form of an aromatic water (now a Hydrosol) along with its essential oil counterpart. Most of the essential oil will rise to the top, leaving the Hydrosol with micro-particles of essential oil locked within the water.

Hydrosol's contain a small amount of the essential oil from the plant and the water soluble constituents in the plant material which have various medicinal and cosmetic properties. Aromatic waters are much less concentrated than essential oils and are safe to use undiluted. Their aromas are often soft and subtle when compared to their essential oil counterpart, they usually have a scent similar to their essential oil, but also can have a milder and greener note. 

Hydrosol's are an ancient holistic tool and ritual. Alchemists have performed botanical healing distillations, in one form or another, for thousands of years. There is evidence of their use in ancient texts, with delicate rose water being the most prominent. In ancient Egypt, their properties and beneficial effects on the skin were well known and rose hydrosol was said to be Cleopatra’s favourite.

***Benzoic acid is a natural preservative. It is a chemical naturally found in many fruits and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. 

DIRECTIONS:

After cleansing apply toner onto a re-usable cotton round and then onto the face. We recommend misting after moisturising with an oil to lock in hydration. 

CARE:

Store in a cool dark place, use within 6 months of opening. Keep the lid tightly closed and refrain from opening the bottle. 

For an extra refreshing energy boost keep the toner in the refrigerator during summertime. This will also extend the shelf life.

SAFETY:

Allergic reactions occur with even the most delicate of products. If you have sensitive skin we recommend doing a patch test first. If irritation occurs discontinue use.

PACKAGING:

All my outer packaging is recyclable/biodegradable. Please recycle or re-use the glass bottle and the atomiser.

Please note - This hydrosol has a mild, fresh and delicate aroma that naturally contains minute quantities of essential oil, there is no added essential oil, because of this it is suitable for sensitive skin.
